Noh chants are made up of numerous shōdan. Kuri is one name for shōdan. Kuri act as the introductory vocals of a Noh performance, with authentic performances consisting of Kuri, , and Kuse, in that order. Commonly made up of numerous smaller segments, the Kuri are sung in an upbeat fashion.
