Hakushiki (白式 )

In Nohgaku, haku, or “white” objects are treated with the utmost reverence. To elevate the standing of typically coloured costumes, white is instead used, a custom known as hakushiki, or “white-style.” The masks and performance are also often changes to match the costume. The term hakushiki itself is also the name for a special type of performance known as kogaki.
