Kazashi (カザシ)

A form in Noh and kyōgen. In the kazashi, or “shading fan” form, the hinge of the opened fan is held between the thumb and other four fingers of the opened right hand and then raised by extending the right arm. The kazashi is used to emphasize looking upward or around, and is seen extremely often as a standard dance form with no particular meaning.
