Yubiori (指折リ)

A form in Noh and kyōgen. The hand is placed in front of the chest and the fingers folded back in a counting motion. It is used in scenes such as Fukusanoshōshō to count the number of days the ghost has passed through the fields and village, the “99 nights.” It is also known as the yubiorikazoe.
