Chūgin (中吟)

A form of vocal used in the Hōshō School. It refers to a method of chanting that uses both tsuyogin (strong chanting) and yowagin (weak chanting) interchangeably within a short period of time. It also refers to the part that is chanted in this way. Chūgin is one of the advanced types of chanting that mixes two different techniques in scenes that describe mixed feelings.
