Shusu (繻子)

A kind of textile. The weave is characterised by warp yarns floating over multiple welt yarns (or vice versa), producing a glossy, smooth and soft texture. Shusu is often used for nurihaku (embroidery and impressing of gold or silver foil on fabric), awase-kariginu (lined informal kimono), happi (workman's livery coat), and hangiri (hakama trousers with gorgeous patterns).
