The name for the room past the agemaku. In the room is placed a large mirror which the performers use to prepare themselves before going on stage. The Noh shite sits on a special chair called a shōgi, where he puts on his mask and waits to go on stage. While the kagami no ma is located on the far side of the curtain, the stage continues into the room, and the performers consider it part of the stage. On the side of the curtain is a lattice window through which the stage and kensho can be seen.
