The performer appearing after the shite in Noh. Tsure is written with the kanji meaning “to accompany.” This broad and usually important role is played by a shite performer. Tsure alone refers to the shite’s tsure, also called the shitetsure. When a tsure accompanies the waki, the term wakitsure or wakizure is used, with this role played by a waki performer.
