A form in Noh and kyōgen. In the kakaeōgi, or “held fan” form, the hinge of the opened fan is held between the thumb and other four fingers of the opened right hand, the palm held upward, and the tip of the fan placed on the left shoulder. The mask (face) is then pointed upward and to the right. When the fan is taken, it appears as if something is being held on the right of the chest. This form is often used when looking at the moon or night sky. For this reason, it is also known as the “Tsuki no ōgi.”
