A form inNoh and kyōgen. In the kumo no ōgi, or “shading fan” form, the hinge of the opened fan is held between the thumb and other four fingers of the opened right hand, the two hands clasped together in front of the chest, the right hand moved upward and to the right on the diagonal, and the left hand pulled away downward and to the left on the diagonal. This mask (face) is the often then moved upward while the actor takes several steps backward. The kumo no ōgi is often used when looking at the sky, clouds or mountains.
