One type of wig worn by the performers. Made by weaving perfectly straight horse hairs onto a 10cm ring, the ring is then placed on the head to be worn. The hairs are just long enough to hang to the shoulders, with no hairs placed in the area that covers the face. As the center of the ring on the head appears open when wearing the tare, some kind of eboshi is always worn. Tare made of white horse hairs are known as shirotare, and those made of black hairs kurotare.
