One type of aikyōgen performed by the kyōgenkata in Noh. Used to create the setting for the entrance of the ai at the start of Noh. The kyōgenkuchiake, or “kyōgen opener,” plays an important role in determining the mood of a play, and is taken seriously by the kyōgenkata. It is used in many modern Noh plays such as Hanjo, Sagi, Kantan and Tsurukame. It is also known as the kuchiakeai.
