Kahōmono (果報者)

One of the roles in kyōgen plays. Kahōmono refers to rich and lucky men, often seen as leading characters in waki-kyōgen plays full of happiness. Actors are required to express magnanimity and a mood of celebration even more in than regular daimyō roles, so such parts are viewed as difficult for young performers. Standard costumes consist of samurai eboshi (a lacquered hat), a suit of suō (ceremonial dress of lower-class samurai) and a coat of kōhaku-dan (large red-and-white check), along with a small dagger and a gold-backgrounded shizume-ōgi (fan). The colours and patterns vary by school.
