A bag for carrying Noh and Kyōgen masks. A box containing masks was initially wrapped in a furoshiki (wrapping cloth) and carried around, but nowadays a unique bag is often used. A sturdy bag is selected to protect the mask, and a hand-held type of a size that can hold multiple masks is often seen. There are few suitable ones available on the market, so cases for kotsuzumi (small drums) or cosmetic bags are sometimes used as substitutes, or bags are made specially to order. Mask bags are always kept with a furoshiki such as silk crepe to protect the masks.
