Stage prop. A cylindrical wooden bucket about 15 cm (5 inches) in both height and diameter, it is made using the “mage-wappa” (round lunch box made of thin wood) technique of bending thin sheets of cypress or other wood. The handle is made of silk braided cord, with a tassel sometimes attached to the end of the thread that extends outside the tub. Sometimes the wood is left as is, but on other occasions it is covered with gold leaf and decorated with patterns such as waves. Used in “Izutsu”, “Shunkan”, “Matsukaze”, etc.
