Ageha (アゲハ)

A short yaku-utai (chant sung by the leading or supporting actor) in the middle of a short kuse section in Noh, chanted in a high-pitched voice. It is also the name of a form found in the yaku-utai or the first part of the dance. In this form, the performer holds the pivot of an unfolded fan with the thumb and the other four fingers of the right hand, keeps it vertically in front of the chest with the front facing themselves, raises it upward, and then lowers it to the right. The name of the form is also called “ageha-ōgi ”.
