Reiwaki (礼脇)

One type of special performance always included in okinatsuki-wakinoh. At the start of the play, the waki appears with the okitsuzumi hayashi, and after offering a prayer with both hands clasped in the jōza, moves to the front of the stage with the shin-no-shidai hayashi, and performs the nanori after chanting the shidai. As the name indicates, the prayer of the waki is important to the performance. There are other special performances upon the entrance of the waki in wakinoh in addition to the reiwaki such as kaikō, hankaikō and okinanashi, depending on the type of performance.
