Komi (コミ/込ミ)

Komi are the rest periods emphasized in different parts of the performance, including the vocals, music and forms. These are silent in many cases, and the performers count them silently to themselves. Komi are present in most proper performances, and the style of komi is extremely important, being decided by the speed and strength of the performance. The unique spirit of Noh is born when the performers focus in together and perform komi in unison.
