Hakama-noh refers to when the actor performs in a montsuki-hakama without a mask or costume. For the hayashikata, jiutai and kōken, this is typical. While the rarely seen in today’s performances, hakama-noh presents a rare opportunity to witness the raw acting ability of the performers. In kyōgen, it is known as hakama-kyōgen.
