A variation of hataraki goto (movements accompanied by music) performed by deities, dragon gods or goblins. Accompanied by flutes, small and large tabors, and drums, it is often called hataraki for short. Mai bataraki occur in the latter halves of "Kamo," "Kurama tengu," "Tsuchi gumo," among others. When performed in fighting scenes, it is known as uchiai bataraki. Some Kyōgen pieces also feature mai bataraki, with dances performed by gods of good luck. The details follow those in Noh.
