Among the kazura mono of Noh plays in which a graceful and refined woman plays the shite, sanbunin refers to the three plays in which women of the highest status act as the shite. These three plays are Ohara Gokō (shite, Kenreimonin), Teika (shite, Shokushi Naishinnō) and Yōkihi (shite, Yōkihi), and must be played with a special elegance.
