Banhayashi is where the all the utai of Noh are sung with the hayashi. Banhayashi is performed seated in a montsuki-hakama (or kamishimo) with no dance or movement. Verses of performers other than the waki or wakitsure are sung instead by a single jiutai, and the ai-kyōgen portion is typically dropped. When only a portion such as the kuse and not all songs are performed, this is known as ibayashi.
