Hankaikō (半開口)

A special performance among okinatsuki-wakinoh used in atypical wakinoh such as Tamai where there is no shidai chant by the waki, or where the role is not Daijin but Hakurakuten. At the start of the play the waki appears with the okitsuzumi hayashi, but then the performance moves right to nanori with no shidai. There are other special performances during the entrance of the waki in wakinoh other than hankaikō, such as kaikō, reiwaki and okinanashi.
