A costume often worn by kyōgen actresses. A white cloth made of silk or hemp is wrapped around the head of the performer, with the two ends of the cloth left to drape down each side of the face and be tucked in the obi. While many of kyōgen actresses perform without makeup, when the binan is used, male actors can more easily play female roles, and the brightness and strength of the kyōgen actresses shines through. Also known as a binan wig or binan hat.
