Karaori-himo (唐織紐)

A string for tightening the waist area when a short-sleeved outer garment including karaori is worn. A karaori-himo is a silk braid with the right amount of stretch, around 1 centimetre thick and 3 meters long. It is generally vermilion or a similar colour, but sometimes a purple one is used to match the colour of the outer kimono.
