One of the forms in Noh and kyōgen. The fan is held with the right hand over the right side of the body, then moved broadly in front of the body in a rotating motion. The fan is then moved from the bottom to the top of the chest and then brought in front of the chest. It may often be moved in front of the chest also. There is also a nearly identical munezashi, the difference being whether the fan is used to point (munezashi) or to “wrap” (makizashi). The names for the forms differ by school, and their expressions may also differ slightly.
