Renjishi (連獅子)

One of the Kogaki of the Noh play Shakkyō. In the second half of the play in which a typical Shishi (lion) appears, for this Kogaki a gray-headed father Shishi and a red-headed child Shishi appear together to offer a beautiful performance. The father Shishi is stout and princely, while the child Shishi is more energetic, and seeing them dance together is quite a treat. Depending on the school, the same Kogaki can be known as either a ōojishi or wagō renjishi, and in some cases the father Shishi may appear with several child shishi.
