Eigo-noh (英語能)

A play constructed in the traditional style of Noh with traditional techniques (vocals, dance and music), performed in English. Several classical Noh plays have been translated into English and some pieces adapted from Western works, including those of Shakespeare. English-language Noh promotes international understanding through overseas performances in English-speaking countries. English plays and musicals created under the influence of English-translated Noh plays are also sometimes called Eigo-noh. Kyōgen, meanwhile, is relatively easy to anglicize because the story moves forward through dialog. Various types of Eigo-kyōgen (English language Kyōgen) have been created and performed at home and abroad.
