Kirikumi (斬組ミ)

Swordfight used by many samurai in battle scenes. It appears in the plays “Shōzon”, “Eboshi-ori”, etc. Actors who have been cut down show signs of death or injury in the form of anza (sitting cross-legged) or hotoke-daore (falling forward), and then often exit from the side entrance. Most of the forms in Noh plays are strictly determined, but kirikumi is often created on the basis of specific norms, taking into account how to provide highlights as well as the number of actors. A flute and small and large hand drums play the music for the scene.
