Shiro-aya (白綾)

Type of Noh costume. A white kosode made of twill fabric with patterns such as koaoi (mallow) and hishi (water chestnut) woven out of floating silk threads. The texture is relatively flexible and has a noble air. Since white is considered a colour of high rank, it is used for high-ranking roles of tranquillity and dignity, and for the outer garments in ghost roles. A type of awase (kimono with a lining).
